Description
This Fishing Silhouette photograph was shot at Lake O' The Pines located in the Piney Woods of beautiful East Texas. Lake O' The Pines is an outdoor enthusiasts paradise for fishing, camping, boating, wildlife watching and just getting away from the hustle and bustle of life. This photo is one of our favorite shots. It gives us a serene feeling. We imagine that these folk have gotten away from it all to come to the lake and fish. They are so interested to catch that BIG ONE that they barely notice the sun setting in the background. They are bonding, they are at one with their surroundings.
We love the reflections on the water of the people, the boat, and the sun....the golden hues the setting sun has brought to the photo and the lake water.
With its 18,700 acres of water, Lake O' The Pines spreads out over parts of five East Texas counties--Marion, Harrison, Upshur, Morris and Camp.
And speaking of "The Big One', their website has a story that fascinated me. Recently a man from Spring, Texas caught a 74.5 Lbs Blue Catfish on Lake O The Pines. He was quoted saying "I see Lake O' The Pines promoted as a Bass and Crappie hot spot all the time, but I rarely hear people in the catfish
community talking about it. I have been posting this catch all over Facebook and Texas fishing forums since I got home and loaded the pictures. In addition to the 74.5 lbs fishI also pulled three more weighing 56, 53 and 31 lbs. Not to mention coming close to limiting on Channel Catfish." He said he caught these fish on trot line and can hardly wait to return to that little "corner of heaven."
The website also contained this mission statement for the lake--"The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District welcomes you to Lake O' the Pines, located in Jefferson, Texas. Our mission: supply water to the North East Municipal Water District and their customers and to provide flood protection to Shreveport, Louisiana and the Red River, also to offer some of the best fishing, camping and boating in Texas."
