Description
"Honoring Our Military Everyday" is the title of this photograph I shot of our beautiful American flag, or Old Glory, flying against the gorgeous blue sky and in front of the green trees. It freely flies and laps about in the wind because of the many courageous acts that have gone before us and continue to go on EVERYDAY. So, to me, if our military serves us EVERY day, then we should honor them, remember them, and be in prayer for them EVERY DAY! I know that I fail at this too, as many do. But I sincerely do not want to be one who just thinks of our American Heroes only on national holidays. Not just on Memorial Day, Flag Day, Veteran's Day, 4th of July, Armed Forces Day, or any other military holiday. And not just during National Military Appreciation Month! I am not saying these holidays are bad....on the contrary, they do bring those heroes to the forefront. I am just saying that it should be a habit with us, as free Americans, to pray for and support those who chose and still choose to fight to keep us free.
The verse I chose to use from the Bible on my photo is from Joshua 1:9. It says "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. Even though these men and women are brave, they have to have some trepidation going into foreign lands and countries, loneliness in places they have never been, reservations about being away from their family and friends and their support systems back home. They have this Bible verse and many others conveying to them that no matter where they go, the Lord, their God is with them. He is with them in life, and He is with them in death. We honor the many soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives to keep America the free nation that it is. I praise God that we live in a nation that is daily protected by many brave soldiers, both men and women, who wake up every morning and lay down each night with such a noble goal in their mind and that is, to protect our land and to fight for our very freedoms that we enjoy. Soldiers that spend many days and nights training endlessly, spend many months and even years, sometimes. away from their family, their spouses, their children and sacrifice on a continuous basis for us. Their families and children, who remain at home to keep their daily life running smoothly, need our understanding and support also. It takes special people to do what they do and sacrifice like they do. They sacrifice THEIR family members time so they can spend it defending US! It takes great dedication from the soldiers and their families and I hope that they all learn to trust, hope and rely on the Lord for their comfort and strength in their times of trials and battles.
Celebrations of Military Holidays is one way we can honor and pay respect to so many who have sacrificed for our freedoms and liberties. The heroes we honor have served in one or more of the five branches of the military. Any time you have a chance, shake their hand and thank them, show your appreciation, say a prayer for their safety, or pay for their family's meal. But above all else, just strive to please remember all the men and women who serve and their families, and our heroes who have gone on before them, not just on these military holidays, but EVERY DAY! GOD BLESS AMERICA AND AMERICA'S MILITARY HEROES!
