I remember, even as a little kid, getting excited when I saw horses in a field as my parents passed by them in the car. I still love to ride the back roads of Texas and see horses grazing in a field of green grass. I get a big kick out of seeing them running, or playing. Now, I sometimes get my husband to stop to take their pictures. I have always loved horses, even though I never owned any of my own....some of my family does. This one in my photo "Horse and Old Barn" was just eating grass on a beautiful afternoon, but it was right in front of a small, cool, old, vintage barn. I had to get a photograph. He was a pretty chestnut horse with a lighter flaxen mane. It was almost spring so the grass was just beginning to turn green. The old barn had seen its better days, but that is what I loved about it. This was not a big Texas ranch, as they only had a few horses, each different in color. He didn't seem to mind having his photograph taken.. His pose was so striking. I loved t...
I have always loved to take pictures. My first job, at age 16, was receptionist for our local newspaper, but the owners soon included me in taking photos, darkroom and writing articles. Years later, a terrible event in my personal life brought back a love of taking photos that I had not been pursuing to any great extent. My only child passed away at the age of 22. He was such a wonderful guy and I feel blessed that God chose me to be his mom. Reeling from his death, I sought some sort of diversion, needing to get my mind focused on anything besides my great loss. After a bad fall that resulted in surgery, I was recuperating at home and stir crazy. My husband took me out for drives in the country. We bought a new digital camera...
