Description
"What you choose is what you'll have. What you allow is what will continue." This is a quote I saw somewhere on the internet one day and had to stop and think about it a minute. I wanted to add some of our photography to my website and add quotes to the photos. I started looking through my photos for one that might fit this saying.
I took this photo of a hot air balloon at our local annual Great Texas Balloon Races. As a side note, our balloon championships in Longview, Texas have grown and grown. In 2012, we hosted the U.S. National Hot Air Balloon Championship. What is more, the city will host the Nationals again in 2013 and 2014. Organizers of the two events expect that the week long competitions, involving some 75 hot air balloonists floating over the Piney Woods, will attract some 40,000 visitors.
When choosing one of our photographs to place this quote on, I thought of this beautiful blue sky in the photo and the vastness of it. Likewise, our choices in life are limitless and vast. Our choices determine our life's journey. Our choices of religion, friends, a mate, a career, a place to live, to go to school, and so many other options put us in place on our path. In these various life choices, we have mates, friends, bosses, teachers, neighbors, etc who treat us in a certain way, good or bad. We make our choices, but that doesn't mean that we should ALLOW ourselves to be mistreated. Thus, the quote "What you allow is what will continue." I have been told through the years that you determine how others treat you by how you treat them. So close to the Golden Rule , which says "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Or as the Bible states it in Luke 10:27, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind. And, Love your neighbor as you love yourself." You should not treat others in a derogatory manner, therefore, you should not allow them to treat you as such. Following the Golden Rule, and the Bible's Great Commandment yourself make it more easy for others to treat you likewise.
This photograph would be suitable for a greeting card or an inspirational photo for a home, office or dorm room. Thank you, as always for viewing our artwork.
