Description
"Sun Patiens Spreading White Variagated" is another flowering plant that I bought this season for our front porch area. It has to be plants that can take direct sun and little watering (when I constantly forget) LOL I have so many times in the past bought impatien flowers and have let them die! They stay SO THIRSTY! But this one says it loves the full sun. Sounds good to me.
SunPatiens® Impatiens plants are someone like me or the gardener's answer to his or her prayers for sun-loving impatiens. This little darling thrives in full sun, high heat and high humidity. Unlike some impatiens that burn up or quit blooming in the heat, SunPatiens just perform more vigorously and bloom more profusely. A cross between a traditional New Guinea impatiens and a wild variety, SunPatiens have the larger flower size of the New Guinea, but the hardiness and vigor of the wild impatiens. What more could you ask for, especially if you live in Texas where it gets really HOT in the summer.
Spreading SunPatiens®, such as this one, are perfect in mixed container plantings. The foliage is bold and variegated and the slight trailing habit allows cascading when planted so as to allow it. I love the bright yellow and green leaves on this one and was thrilled when the white flower started blooming all over it.
It also is advertised as blooming longer and being bushier than the impatiens that we all use in our shady spaces. It is also described as blooming earlier in the spring and keeping up its profuse bloom until frost.
“Spreading” plants are recommended for hanging baskets, as well as beds, and they have two-toned, golden-edged green leaves, and the marketers claim they will spread yet remain compact and never wilt. So far, so good for me. I love it!
