Description
I have always heard the phrase "Bloom Where You Are Planted." There are so many opinions about the meaning of it, questions about whether it is taken from a verse in the Bible, and poems written using the phrase. What does it mean to me? What do you take from it? Have you ever thought about it?
I do agree that it could be based on Bible verses. Such as "Friends, stay where you were called to be. God is there. Hold the high ground with Him at your side." is found in 1 Corinthians 7:24. Another version words it like this..."So, brothers, in whatever condition each was called, there let him remain with God." Also, Paul said in 1 Corinthians 3:6, "I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth."
We were each planted in the Master's Garden. What we do with our life is up to us. How we influence others is our responsibility. God does not expect us to sit idly by and let life pass us by. He expects us to work, to teach, to love, to live, to care for others and to do for others. He commands us to do His will. Maybe we will not end up where we thought we would. Maybe we are not doing what we thought we would be doing at this junction of our life. Maybe we never expected life to turn out like it has. But I believe and the Bible says in Philippians 4, " for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me."
So, basically, we are to be content, in whatever circumstances we find ourselves in. Because we can do ANYTHING because Christ strengthens us. So, if we do not like our circumstances or our situation in life, either we can be content and make the best of it, or we can set about to make it BETTER! Bloom where you are planted. Wherever the seeds fall, grow a flower...or as it is quoted, "If life gives you lemons, make lemonade." Same principle.
Each of us is special in God's eyes and He has a plan for us all. We are each unique, have our own different talents, and He expects us to spread our wings and fly in whatever we do! Sometimes we may doubt that there is anything special about us, but that is not true. We each need to find what we do best and nourish it, water it, so to speak and let it bloom and grow in our own garden. The love and kindness we show to others will come back to us tenfold. When you sow love and kindness, you reap love and kindness.
We may not feel that we are making any sort of difference in other's lives when we speak a kind word, do a good deed, pay a good thing forward, but we may never know the impact of our actions. You may be the only kindness that person has experienced in a long time! God has blessed us, even in our adversity. There are lessons to be learned and opportunities to carry God's love to others around us daily....just by our examples and our actions. Bloom Where You Are Planted and God will cause you to grow!
This beautiful yellow rose I photographed and softened in the background highlight the words "Bloom Where You Are Planted in white and lime green with lime green accents in the blurred leaves and stalks of the background. This would make a great motivational poster or framed photograph or an awesome greeting card to send to others for encouragement.
