Description
David took this photograph as the fog was trying to lift over the Sabine River in Texas on this beautiful morning. The oil derricks looming over the Sabine River at this site reflect in the water and the leaves have begun to change to their autumn colors. It is a great view!
Oil derricks line the Sabine River's bank near White Oak, Texas. The derricks received an official Texas historical marker in 2011 commemorating the Sabine River’s off-shore drilling wells that date back to 1932. The riverbed was divided into tracts and leased to drilling companies. The derricks that remain in the Sabine River near this site today are the last standing of the approximately 200 wells drilled in the riverbed.
