Description
"Pale Pink Hibiscus" is one of the most sought after hibiscus flower colors. That single pink bloom has emerged in modern times as a common garden hibiscus displaying many different shades of pink. The pink hibiscus plants of today offer brilliant shades of pink along with subtle shades of pink intermingled with unique central bloom colors. The pink hibiscus flower can now be seen displayed on hibiscus plants that range in height from 4 to 8 feet. The colorful shades and depths of the pink flowers are diverse and spell binding. Spectacular, brilliant, pink flowers 6” to 8” across, are borne most of summer and fall. The blooms last only one day, but new ones open daily.
Follow the normal planting instructions for the pink hibiscus. Plant in good organic soil and provide adequate moisture until the plant is well established. Place the pink hibiscus in a location where it will receive at least 6 to 8 hours of full sun each day.
The Hibiscus flower is both huge and delicate, as if they were made out of airy crepe paper. There are many incredible color variations, which range from hot pink to plum. Others are bi-colored or have attractive dark veins.
The hibiscus flower is a genus of flowering plants in the mallow family, Malvaceae. Hibiscus plants can be broken down into two distinct categories. The two categories are commonly named tropical hibiscus and hardy hibiscus. Botanical names are Rosa-sinensis for the tropical hibiscus and Hibiscus moscheutos for the hardy hibiscus family.
Hibiscus care is relatively easy. After planting on a good site, water and fertilize and provide winter protection. If you want to encourage better branching, pinch them lightly early in the growing season. They should not need pruning unless they get too large for their area. Once the new shoots have emerged in the spring, you can prune out the old stems.
Hibiscus syriacus is the national flower of South Korea, and Hibiscus rosa-sinensis is the national flower of Malaysia. The hibiscus is the national flower of the Republic of Haiti. Hibiscus rosa-sinensis is considered to have a number of medical uses in Chinese herbology. The red hibiscus flower is traditionally worn by Tahitian women. A single flower, tucked behind the ear, is used to indicate the wearer's availability for marriage. The hibiscus tea is popular as a natural diuretic; it contains vitamin C and minerals, and is used traditionally as a mild medicine.
