Description
I had to take a shot of this interesting looking Seward, Alaska church. You can see the sunshine over the Seward Church in the upper right hand corner, which to me, seemed almost like a spiritual thing. It is a neat looking little church with unique colors of country red and green, but the white fence around it made it really pretty to me.
Seward is such a gorgeous place, surrounded by spectacular mountains, but is a wonderful little fishing town also. It is situated at the head of Resurrection Bay on the Kenai Peninsula and boasts abundant marine wildlife.
Footrace famous Mt. Marathon is the western backdrop of Seward with Harding Ice field lined along the back extending to the coast. Chugach National Forest, Kenai Fjords National Park and Caines Head State Recreation area are nearby. It is really a recreational area with lots of boating, fishing, tourist attractions, bed and breakfasts, glaciers, and whale watching to enjoy.
Founded in 1903, Seward is not only a natural beauty, but is Alaska's only deep-water, ice-free port with rail, highway and air transportation to Alaska's interior and major urban population centers.
Seward is well known for its day cruises into the Kenai Fjords National Park and we had a very enjoyable time learning about the marine life there, watching for whales, seeing the adorable puffins, and being awestruck by the massive glaciers there. It seemed like such a peaceful place, as this photograph portrays to me. We relaxed, stayed in a bed and breakfast, dined, visited the salmon hatchery, explored, took a day cruise into the Kenai Fjords Park, shopped, and had a memorable time in Seward, Alaska.
