Description
"The Greatest Moments In Life Are The Simplest" is a beautiful quote used widely. It is offered to make us stop and think about the simple things in life and how sometimes they are the things we remember most prominently. I took this photo in some really beautiful gardens that we visited recently.
When you think about it, we spend thousands of dollars on new cars, fancy clothes, amazing houses, and beautiful furnishings to go in those homes. But if you asked someone what they remembered most about visiting a favorite aunt, for example, you most likely will not hear, "Their home was exquisite. It was furnished with expensive and beautiful things." You are most likely going to remember how you were treated there. "I remember visiting my aunt and she was so full of love. We laughed and talked and had such a wonderful time. I remember the delicious smell of fresh baked biscuits just coming out of the oven when we woke up each morning." Or "I remember my aunt always grew her own vegetables in a garden behind her home. She used to take me, when I was little, and let me pick the fresh veggies out of the garden with her for our lunch." Are you beginning to understand? Something so simple is your first recollection.....the thing that you treasure.
People visit a beautiful garden and remember the amazing peach colored flower they saw there. It sticks in their mind and when they think of that garden, they think of that magnificent flower they enjoyed there. They can see the delicate blooms cascading from the stem, and the lacy look of it. They don't even know the name of it, but remember the picture of it in their mind.
You can take your wife for lavish dinners, expensive trips and shower her with gifts and what does she tell her friends about you? "I love his smile and the way his eyes twinkle. He is always cheerful and he brings me up when I am down. Sometimes, just with a smile and that sweet look he gives me."
You can impart much wisdom to your children, trying to teach them right from wrong in life. You can buy them books and give them so many chances to succeed. You can send them to the best schools and give them the finest clothes to wear and what is their fondest memory of their mom? "I love the way she would stop whatever she was doing and hug me. If she was baking, she would let me lick the beaters. She would always tuck me in at night and read me a bed time story. She kissed me good night. She never failed to say I love you every day." It is truly the simplest, smallest things that are sometimes the greatest moments of our lives....the ones that have a cherished spot in our very fondest memories.
