Artist's Description

As we were out driving one day, my husband spotted this little guy grazing on the green grass of a countryside field. Being a deer hunting enthusiast who loves "shooting" or photographing them almost as much as the hunt, he had to get out of the car to check it out. This little deer was just as curious about David as David was about him. We decided that he was in some sort of private deer preserve because of the tall fence around it. There are commercial preserves, which exists to make money for the owner, or there are also non-commercial preserves, which operate as a nonprofit entity; both usually offering a six-month season. Either way, you get a safe and entertaining experience among native habitat. These preserves usually have exotic deer among the wildlife on their property, as this one may well be.

I have always loved to take pictures. My first job, at age 16, was receptionist for our local newspaper, but the owners soon included me in taking photos, darkroom and writing articles. Years later, a terrible event in my personal life brought back a love of taking photos that I had not been pursuing to any great extent. My only child passed away at the age of 22. He was such a wonderful guy and I feel blessed that God chose me to be his mom. Reeling from his death, I sought some sort of diversion, needing to get my mind focused on anything besides my great loss. After a bad fall that resulted in surgery, I was recuperating at home and stir crazy. My husband took me out for drives in the country. We bought a new digital camera...
