Billy And The Kids were very cute! David took this photo and as I looked at it, a memory from my childhood came back. There are over 300 distinct breeds of goats, so I have no idea what kind these little domesticated goats were. Males and females have beards and are born with two horns. I named the little multicolored one with the beard in the photo Billy because he reminded me of the old rhyme Billy Goats Gruff. He looks so much like the goat used in photos in that childhood rhyme where three billy goats tried to cross an old bridge to get to a green pasture to feed.
A mean troll lived under the bridge. As each goat tried to cross the bridge the troll called out to each one that he was coming to eat them. Each one pled with the troll that he was small and a bigger one would be coming along soon. The troll dismissed the first two, eagerly awaiting the biggest goat to cross the bridge. I have always loved to take pictures. My first job, at age 16, was receptionist for our local newspaper, but the owners soon included me in taking photos, darkroom and writing articles. Years later, a terrible event in my personal life brought back a love of taking photos that I had not been pursuing to any great extent. My only child passed away at the age of 22. He was such a wonderful guy and I feel blessed that God chose me to be his mom. Reeling from his death, I sought some sort of diversion, needing to get my mind focused on anything besides my great loss.
