Artist's Description
I shot this photo near Carmel, Louisiana. I called this photo " Days Long Gone" because it stands at the front of a large lot and a newer brick home is back off the road behind it a ways, making me believe it may be a former home in this family lineage. It looks VERY OLD with a rusty tin roof, log or wooden siding, and concrete bracing underneath. We even see tree stumps propping it up underneath. It has a old red brick fireplace on the side of the house. It does not look occupied, but the owners have placed chrysanthemums and plants on the front porch area. I figured they get lots of passerby's like us who find it interesting and stop to take a photograph of it.
I tried to find some history on the old home on the internet and was unsuccessful.
We like to photograph old homes, old barns and anything that looks rustic or vintage. I can envision this photo in a rustic looking wooden frame with a light mat around it. I can also see it looking awesome on a metal print!...
About Kathy White
I have always loved to take pictures. My first job, at age 16, was receptionist for our local newspaper, but the owners soon included me in taking photos, darkroom and writing articles. Years later, a terrible event in my personal life brought back a love of taking photos that I had not been pursuing to any great extent. My only child passed away at the age of 22. He was such a wonderful guy and I feel blessed that God chose me to be his mom. Reeling from his death, I sought some sort of diversion, needing to get my mind focused on anything besides my great loss. After a bad fall that resulted in surgery, I was recuperating at home and stir crazy. My husband took me out for drives in the country. We bought a new digital camera...
