We have had a great opportunity lately! We are so excited that we were hired to photograph local icons or Longview, Texas landmarks for their new feature wall in their restaurant! They did a local remodel/refresh and needed large photographs, 24x42 in black and whites. David had a shot of the Derricks in Early Morning Fog, and we took photos of a local downtown clock tower with the American flag flying behind it, the water tower at night, a 100 year old Confederate statue on the courthouse lawn and the Longview Museum. They also let us include our watermark, Moments by Kathy and David, on the bottom of our photo. We are so thrilled now to walk into our local Jason's Deli and see our own artwork on the wall in such a beautiful feature. I know so many of you have had photography exhibits for years, art shows, and accolades like this, but it is a first for us!! Of course, we hope it's not the last either.
I have always loved to take pictures. My first job, at age 16, was receptionist for our local newspaper, but the owners soon included me in taking photos, darkroom and writing articles. Years later, a terrible event in my personal life brought back a love of taking photos that I had not been pursuing to any great extent. My only child passed away at the age of 22. He was such a wonderful guy and I feel blessed that God chose me to be his mom. Reeling from his death, I sought some sort of diversion, needing to get my mind focused on anything besides my great loss. After a bad fall that resulted in surgery, I was recuperating at home and stir crazy. My husband took me out for drives in the country. We bought a new digital camera...
