Description
"Down On The Farm" is the title of this photograph I shot as we were travelling out in the country on a very, very HOT summer afternoon. I asked my husband to please turn around and go back so that I could get a shot that I had noticed as we drove by. I had to have him turn around, go back and let me get a better view, because what I had seen was beautiful! Sure enough! It was a beautiful landscape shot! The scene was so tranquil....like a place I wanted to sit and enjoy just to take in the beauty. The inviting lake in the front, just inviting my hubby to get his fishing pole and try to catch some fish!! He would have loved that. The water was reflecting the barns, the trees, and I thought the reflection was so pretty.
There were three nice, bright red barns with possibly more buildings. There were at least two horses in the back field, perhaps a mare and her colt. There was definitely cattle ranching going on at this nice place. There were many cows out in the fields, that you cannot really see in this photo, in different areas, lazily eating the grass or resting. One black cow can be seen getting a drink from a water trough up by the barn, and no doubt thinking that it MUST be about time for the farmer to come out and feed them their daily meal. I see the gates and stalls for herding the cows in and out for various purposes. I'm sure there are plenty of hay bales, whether square or round, and feed stored in at least one of those barns, along with farming equipment. I figured there were probably some other farm animals about, that I could not see. Perhaps some pigs, chicken for farm fresh eggs, or any number of other possibilities. Maybe a garden behind the house. I might venture to guess that there is at least ONE John Deere Tractor around there somewhere, along with other farming necessities.
The sky was so pretty and blue with only a few clouds. You can't tell in this picture that it near 100 degrees outside, because the grass is still pretty green. But I'm sure it won't be long before the grass will be dying in those kind of constant temperatures. There are so many things that we cannot see as we just look at this photo. So many daily chores that it takes to run this place effectively. But I'm sure there is a bit of fishing going on too. I spied at least one fishing dock there. Couldn't just sit there on the side of the road too long, so we were on our way. I hope you enjoy "Down On The Farm" as much as we did.
