Description
Santa Claus, aka Clayton Sawyers, had been working very hard, but enjoying every minute portraying Santa at the Athens, Texas Christmas Park Land of Lights. I caught him taking a short break outside his one room Santa House and basking in the cold night air. I bet that Santa Suit and boots get pretty hot! Santa poses every night at the park for photos with young and old alike. He even posed for a photo last year with my 89 year old mother sitting on his knee! She got the biggest kick from that.
Clayton has been playing Santa for quite a few years now. Having four grown children of his own, he knows how to interact with children, bringing smiles all around. He has been this park's Santa for several years and they couldn't be happier, according to the owner of the park. People love the photos with such an authentic looking Santa, making for memorable, beautiful photographs to cherish. His daughter takes the photos, making it a family affair. He also works as Santa at several local schools and at Christmas parties. More info to book Clayton for an event can be given by emailing MarthaSawyers@aol.com. Clayton says he loves being Santa. He said " It really makes my Christmas, to bring joy to everybody." Of course, I'm sure when the day is really long, the evening brings sore muscles to Santa's legs and knees. But, I'm sure after some muscle rub and a long winter's nap, he will be there the next evening because he loves Christmas and the enjoyment of the smiles on everyone's faces!
The Athens, Texas Christmas Park Land of Lights is open from 6:00 p.m. till 10:30 p.m. every year starting November 10th through the 2nd of January. It is an awesome park...the best we have been to, filled with millions of lights! The park is more than 1 mile long and has over 4 million lights, including more than 50 different musical scenes and 50 motion controlled lighted scenes in addition to 7 tunnels and 10 arches, and 1500 wood cutouts. And more added each year, almost all designed, created, painted, and installed by the owners and their family.
This park is the dream of a woman who saw it come true in a big way, with a lot of personal hard work from her, her husband, children and even grandchildren. They have been in operation since 1998 and have been visited by folks from every state and other countries. They have been written up in a few notable magazines and local newspapers, as well as been on local TV stations. It is very evident how much pride and love they have for their park! That alone keeps people coming back every year, making it a holiday tradition!

Kathy--congratulations on your WFS feature! He is cute--and by they way, when I lived in Texas there was a 'Santa' that lived close by--and we saw him the first time in Weatherford, TX---and he had on his red suspenders---he looked a lot like this guy--I could not keep from staring at him--I thought I had met the real Santa Claus---It might be the same one! :) (he was the 'Santa' for that area)
Kathy White replied:
Nava Jo, it could very well be him! He does appearances everywhere and lived in the Dallas area for years I think! Thank you for your comments!!

Now, this is not a Wal Mart Santa, as it is just to perfect! It must be Mr. Claus, himself. Perfect shot and great presentation, Kathy! fave and vote
